Avni Jain, founder of The Rural Water Commons, is a Grade 11 student at JPIS with a strong academic interest in sociology, particularly in gender and development. Her coursework reflects a consistent engagement with social systems and inequalities, with higher-level subjects such as Business Management, Economics, and Mathematics.

Beyond academics, Avni has been actively involved in community-oriented initiatives. As a host with Students for Last Mile Learning, a council-led initiative, she worked to raise awareness and mobilize funds through crowdfunding to support tribal education. Her team went on to break the record for the highest amount raised for this cause, reflecting both her commitment toward the cause and a strong collaborative effort.

Her motivation to engage with questions of water access emerges from a larger interest in how structural inequalities shape everyday life. She is particularly interested in understanding how resource access intersects with gender and how these challenges can be addressed through community-driven, sustainable approaches.
